OGC Attorney Margaret Brill Retires

With much gratitude and mixed emotions, we celebrated the retirement of Margaret Brill in June, 2016.

Margaret graduated, cum laude, from Radcliffe College, Harvard University and from Boston University School of Law. Before coming to MIT in 2001, Ms. Brill practiced law for 27 years, primarily in Boston, MA, including at Testa, Hurwitz & Thibeault, where she was a partner and Chair of the firm’s Real Estate Practice Group.

In 2001, Margaret joined MIT as one of its first in house counsel, serving MIT as contracts counsel in the Senior Counsel’s office and then as Counsel in the Office of the General Counsel.  Margaret was the Institute’s senior real estate lawyer covering a wide range of real estate and business transactional matters working on a number of important Institute matters during her tenure. Examples of Margaret’s important contributions include being the lead lawyer for the creation of the Massachusetts Green High Performance Computing Center and the lead lawyer for the purchase and accompanying long term lease of 7 Cambridge Center. Since retiring, the OGC continues to turn to Margaret when needed to provide insight and guidance to her friends and colleagues.
