New Legal Resource for Students

On September 9, 2015 President Rafael Reif announced to the MIT Community the creation of two law clinics to assist MIT students with their legal needs. The clinics, which are the result of a collaboration between Boston University School of Law and MIT, are a much-needed legal resource for MIT students.

Overseen by BU Law professors, the clinics are designed to be mutually beneficial to MIT students who need legal advice and BU law students who need hands-on experience. The Entrepreneurship and Intellectual Property Clinic, opening in September 2015 under the direction of Professor Eve J. Brown, will be a resource for advice on issues such as financing new companies, intellectual property and contracts. Eight BU students will participate in this clinic. The Technology and Cyberlaw Clinic, opening in 2016, will focus on advice on issues such as communications, data security, and privacy in students’ academic and extracurricular activities. The clinics are open to all MIT students, and will be available on BU and MIT campuses. The MIT campus location will be at the Martin Trust Center for MIT Entrepreneurship (E40-160).
