Allison Romantz joined MIT as Counsel in the Office of the General Counsel in March 2009. She provides training, legal advice and counseling to departments, labs and centers and central human resources in the areas of labor and employment, employee benefits and student issues.
Before joining MIT, Ms. Romantz was a partner at Morgan, Brown & Joy, LLP where she represented employers in all facets of the employment relationship, including compliance with federal and state labor and employment laws, review and audit of employment practices and representation of employers before administrative agencies (MCAD, EEOC, DOL), arbitrators and the courts. An important part of Ms. Romantz’ practice was helping clients prevent disputes by providing advice on a variety of employment law issues, such as risk management practices, personnel policies and statutory compliance. She also conducted training and other education on a variety of employment-related topics.
She is certified by the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination to train in the areas of: Preventing and Addressing Sexual Harassment and Preventing Discrimination, Fostering Workplace Diversity and Preventing Discrimination and Accommodating People with Disabilities. She is a member of the National Association of College and University Attorneys and the American and Massachusetts Bar Associations. Ms. Romantz graduated from Cornell University in 1986 and received her J.D., cum laude, from Boston College Law School in 1989.
