Maya Khuri Plotkin provides legal advice to the Institute focusing on real estate matters, including advising the Institute on all aspects of its academic real estate holdings, including construction, renovation and renewal, operational services, business infrastructure and maintenance and utilities. In addition, she collaborates with MIT’s Investment Management Company and provides advice on business matters, compliance, risk and other Institute affairs.
Attorney Plotkin joined the OGC in March 2017. Previously, Ms. Plotkin was Senior Counsel at Citizens Bank, where she practiced for over seven years. Ms. Plotkin was the primary counsel for Citizens’ real estate portfolio, which consisted of 1,200+ commercial properties, and her practice included leasing, acquisitions and dispositions, strategic planning, construction and landlord/tenant matters. Ms. Plotkin also advised on regulatory compliance, business contracts and environmental issues and risk management. Prior to joining Citizens Bank, Ms. Plotkin was Of Counsel at Dionne & Gass LLP (now: Saul Ewing LLP) and previously an associate at Hill & Barlow, P.C.
Ms. Plotkin received her B.A magna cum laude from Bowdoin College and her J.D. cum laude from Northwestern University School of Law. She is a member of the National Association of College and University Attorneys, the Boston Bar Association and the Women’s Bar Association.
