Real Estate Counsel
MIT’s Office of the General Counsel (OGC) is searching for an experienced, intelligent, versatile and collaborative lawyer to provide advice, guidance and assistance on a wide range of real estate and business issues. This Counsel will be a transactional generalist working on a broad variety of issues for the Institute, but will have a particular focus on campus real estate matters. Specifically, this Counsel will provide advice on the following: design, construction, and property development; utilities and energy; facility services and contracts; land use, title and zoning; tax and regulatory issues and agreements; easements, licenses and other land use agreements; leasing; acquisitions and dispositions; and environmental issues. The person may also be called upon to work with the real estate legal team at MIT’s Investment Management Company on commercial leasing and other matters. General transactional matters could include significant procurement agreements, collaborative agreements and legal compliance advice across a spectrum of topics faced by a complex research institute like MIT.
